At job fairs and mixers three common questions I get asked are…
“How do I find a career?”
“What do staffing agencies actually do?”
“When should I start looking for work?”
The best way to find your career is try different jobs, joins clubs, and intern. The more experience you have, the better prepared you will be. By the time I graduated, I had interned with two companies in completely different industries and knew where I wanted to be. I joined several clubs to see where my interests would be and how to better my skill sets. These steps aligned me to where I am today.
A common misconception is that staffing agencies will take a portion of your wages after being employed with them. This could not be further from the truth! Staffing agencies are here to be your voice in the recruiting process and connect you with local businesses. Everyone knows the stress of sending a resume to 15 different companies and dying for a response. With an agency, we share your qualified resume to our clients and discuss the benefits of bringing you on board. Our goal is to get you to stay, work, and share in our community.
Remember, it is never too early! Start looking for work as soon as possible. It is never too early to begin ‘planting seeds’ and make sure employers are aware of you. Sometimes it can take 3 – 6 months to find a career you really like. Sometimes it takes a week. Either way, you have to get out there and begin, as well as not be discouraged.
