Yesterday we learned that following the government’s dietary advice regarding milk was based on shaky science. Today we’ve discovered that following the advice posted on the US Department of Labor’s website was insufficient to protect an employer not only against a claim for back pay but also damages for a willful violation of the FSLA. The price? Over $32K.
Whether it’s what you eat or what you pay, when dealing with “free” government advice, it appears Big Sam’s advice isn’t worth much more than the price. Evidently, common sense is still a more reliable guide.
