Have you ever got into your car ready to drive to work and it wouldn’t start? Normally you would be out of luck, shut out of a day’s work and a day’s pay. However the digital age is starting to change all that. With a smartphone app called “Uber” you are a couple of taps away from having an economical ride arriving at your home and rescuing your day.
Uber is an extremely convenient transportation service, and it is beginning to creep from the major cities and into the suburbs. The accessibility of “your own personal driver” whenever you need it, is beginning to create new transportation options in the North Bay.
We checked the app on Tuesday afternoon, January 27, and found seven Uber cars on the map in the Napa/Vallejo area, less than 10 minutes away. Six months ago, there were none. As the concept continues to grow, there will many more Uber drivers on the road and in our neighborhoods, giving more of us the ability to both get around town, and more importantly to get to and from work without the cost and hassle of driving!
