This election cycle added two more states and the District of Columbia to the list of those easing laws regarding the recreational use of marijuana. This is an unmistakable trend that began with the acceptance of medical use and is now moving towards outright legalization.
California has long tolerated marijuana use and it seems likely at some point there will be a move for all out legalization. For employers, this might be a good time to review your drug usage and testing policies. While you still have a right to maintain a drug free workplace, medicinal use complicates matters somewhat.
