Chine-Easy Dinner

Chine-Easy Dinner
It’s back to school and work schedule so I made a quick stir fry tonight, with a twist.  With this blog in the back of my mind, I experimented a bit.  My family members dig beef so I decided to experiment with an inexpensive, thinly sliced round steak I had in the fridge.  The marinade started with some freshly chopped ginger in a bowl, Chinese Five Spice, a little rice vinegar, a diced half of a jalapeno and some soy sauce.  Then I added the sliced beef, a couple stocks of chopped celery and squeezed a fresh grapefruit (the twist) on top turning to coat several times.  I like using citrus in my sauces this time of year.
I turned the wok on high, added New Organic Spectrum Asian Stir Fry Oil (good stuff) and poured in half the beef and marinade.  After adding salt and pepper, I cooked the second batch and served with steamed rice and stir fried sliced bok choy, zucchini and white cabbage.
Total cost of this meal was about $2 per person and 45 minutes of my time.  There is one more serving of everything except rice for someone’s lunch tomorrow.
