Ways to Save $

With school out, summer is usually a time to take a bit of a break from the driving stresses of commuting. It is also a good time to evaluate travel alternatives.
Commuters in Solano County have SOLTRANS to move them around Vallejo and Benicia as well as bring them to Walnut Creek BART. From there the entire world is available as BART serves San Francisco Airport as well as the familiar Bay Area destinations.
Those headed to San Francisco needn’t limit themselves to ground transport either.
SOLTRANS’ Transit Center home in Vallejo is just a few steps from the Vallejo Ferry Terminal.
This time of year the ferry ride to the City is especially appealing.
Likewise Napa Commuters can take the VINE to access both the Ferry and BART as well as destinations in Napa, Vallejo and Fairfield. The Vine’s route 25 is especially useful to many BOLT employees. It runs between Sonoma and Napa. Using route 25 is a good way to escape the agony of the congested east-west roads.
Those commuting on the west side of the Bay needn’t despair. Commuters from Santa Rosa, Petaluma and Marin have Golden Gate Transit (GGT)) to take them to San Francisco. In addition to access to BART, GGT passengers can also use their Clipper Cards to travel on BART, MUNI, SamTrans, GGT and several other area transit agencies.+
The transit alternatives keep growing. Is it time to look beyond your windshield and try something different this summer?
