The Importance of Getting Enough Sleep – Introduction

We’ve all heard it – getting enough sleep is key to so many aspects of our health and success. Yet, when asked, most Americans answer that they get very little or not enough. A survey conducted by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in 2014 revealed that ”More than a third of American adults are not getting enough sleep on a regular basis.”*  These people could be your family members, co-workers, and supervisors.
In the next few blogs, we’ll be reviewing how getting enough sleep provides key benefits, including benefits in the work place and with respect to one’s overall health.  We’ll also review current research about strategies you might be able to use to get more sleep of better quality.
